Modernization of Callao port to be ready by 2014

Works at North Dock will be executed in five stages

Works for modernizing North Dock of Callao Port will be executed in five stages, and will be finished by 2014, according to the concession contract approved by Proinversion, the state agency in charge of promote foreign investments in Peru, and ratified by the National Ports Authority.

These works will require an investment of nearly US $550 million, and will include the expansion and reinforcement of Dock 5, and also the construction of new infrastructure in the dicks 1,2,3 and 4, explained Frank Boyle, President of the Ports Authority.

Proinversion sources told the press that there are currently 10 international port operators interested in this process, as Finance Minister Mercedes Aráoz had previously said.
