TOC Events Worldwide has announced that Mr Ricardo Luján, Under-Secretary for Ports and Waterways, Ministry of Transport, Argentina, will be making the opening remarks at this year’s TOC Americas conference, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Mr Luján's secretariat is, among other things, responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring policies and plans relating to river and sea transport. His other roles include overseeing and controlling river and maritime transport as well as governing the activities of the National Port Authority. Delegates attending TOC Americas 2009 will be able to listen to Mr Luján's informative presentation at 09h00 on Monday, 9 November 2009.
Following the opening, a three-day conference, titled Surviving 2009: Understanding the Legacy of the Great Recession, will provide delegates with a status report on global economic and maritime trade, with detailed insight into the outlook for the Americas, and the Latin and Caribbean maritime and port markets in particular.
Key speakers at TOC Americas 2009 are: Julian Thomas, the President of Hamburg Süd South America (ECSA), and Marcos Hansen, the Commercial Director of Maersk River Plate and Head of Centro de Navegación’s Container Line Committee, Robert West, Principal of Trade and Transportation at Halcrow, Rodolfo Sabonge, Panama Canal Authority’s VP of Research, Roberto Negro, the CEO of Exolgan Container Terminals, James Brennan of Norbridge Inc. and Jean-Paul Rodrigue, Associate Professor from the Department of Global Studies and Geography at Hofstra University, USA.
